AT Ali Taqi

Vancouver, WA · Open to actuarial & analytics roles

Quantitative analyst & actuarial candidate.

I'm Ali Taqi. I work where statistics meets software — turning messy data into models, and models into things you can actually use. Below are six projects from my graduate and undergraduate work at Boston University and Reed College.

About

A statistician who likes to build.

I'm an early-career actuary and quantitative analyst based in Vancouver, WA. I hold an M.A. in Statistics from Boston University and a B.A. in Mathematics from Reed College, and I've passed actuarial Exams P and FM — with MAS-I scheduled for July 2026.

My background is heavy on probability, statistical modeling, and communicating results, but I'm just as comfortable writing the code and building the pipeline. Most of what I make starts as a question and ends as something you can read, run, or click.

Experience

Research Affiliate

2023 – 2025

Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University

  • Built automated R and Excel pipelines to clean, validate, and analyze 15+ economic and demographic datasets spanning 12M+ records.
  • Led the quantitative analysis on several concurrent projects, choosing methods and running post-hoc policy analyses.
  • Turned statistical findings into reports, time-series visualizations, and geospatial heatmaps for non-technical stakeholders.

Web Systems Administrator

Office of Student Engagement, Reed College

  • Maintained data integrity for 10K+ student records through SQL queries against a live platform serving 1K+ users.
  • Cut funding-request processing time by 80% with improved web interfaces and database automation.
  • Led a small student development team and acted as primary liaison to management.
